It is the role of the eDean to ensure that the students studying online at their school make the most of the learning opportunity offered to them.  This requires organisation and commitment on behalf of the eDean, and an ability to provide pastoral support to their estudents.  It is expected that an eDean will have some time allowance allocated by their home school to regularly follow up with their estudents, and to ensure they are attending their online lessons, engaging with their coursework and completing assessments.

Key Responsibilities

  • To liaise with the FarNet ePrincipal to enrol students on behalf of their school

  • To liaise with the relevant eteachers as necessary

  • To provide pastoral support to online students studying via FarNet

  • To manage the administration requirements relating to FarNet within timeframes set

  • To attend FarNet eStaff meetings

  • To engage in training and support in relation to FarNet as required

In order for an eDean to keep up to date with the administration requirements of FarNet, they will need to attend at least two online eStaff meetings each term.  A personal, face-to-face meeting is also scheduled by the ePrincipal during the year, at which time any further training and support can be given.

For further information relating to the roles and responsibilites of an eDean, view the handbook here: eDean Handbook.pdf
